Shirley Mheadshotoore is originally from Puerto Rico but was raised in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence. Shirley migrated with her family at the tender age of five, and she soon began interpreting for her mother and friends. Shirley believes she has a unique perspective when it comes to interpreting because she is a self-proclaimed “outlier” (Galdwell, 2008). Shirley has spent her entire life bridging communication for limited English speaking people and working with the human services field.  She believes that her experiences give her a unique perspective when educating individuals on entrepreneurship, domestic violence, cultural competence and so many other of her interests.

Shirley has served on the Board of Directors of Young Leader’s Fellowship; the Mayor’s Ministerial Committee, has been Wraparound Facilitator at Family Service of RI, the Operations Manager at the RI Renegades, Director of Operations at The Mullings Group, Marriage on the Rock Facilitator and a Domestic Violence Advocate at the Women’s Resource Center. Shirley graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Springfield College in November of 2015, Bootstrap Bootcamp Certificate in 2016 and plans on pursuing a Juris Doctorate in 2017.

Finally, she is a Certified Interpreter serving Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese speaking individuals for over ten years. In 2016, Shirley joined The Mullings Group, LLC as one of their instructors. Within this role she is able to educate individuals on how to declutter their lives, how to live debt free and never be broke again and how to manage time effectively. This opportunity has not only allowed her to teach others, but it has kept her accountable to the many strategies that she learned in Bootstrap Bootcamp.

Shirley lives by the following words: “She believed she could… So she did!”
